Staff representation in companies

Foreword

This website provides a general outline of the Luxembourg legislation on staff representation in companies.

On 12 march 2024 staff representations will be renewed in Luxembourg. All companies employing at least 15 workers will thus have to organise social elections for staff representatives.

This website, moreover, provides companies with a tool to facilitate the process of setting up staff representations. Beyond the procedural aspects, it also provides information on the legal attributions of staff representatives.

We would like to give special thanks to the department "social dialogue and works council elections" of the Labour Inspectorate (Inspection du Travail et des Mines – ITM) for its essential contribution on the practical modalities of these elections.

The staff of the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce, the Luxembourg Chamber of Skilled Trades and Crafts, FEDIL – The Voice of Luxembourg’s Industry, the Fédération des Artisans, the Luxembourg Bankers’ Association (ABBL) and the Luxembourg Confederation remain at the entire disposal of companies for any further queries.

Additional information is available on the website of the Labour Inspectorate.
